About

More About Our Club

coding&&community is a student-run club that focuses on the involvement and exposure of minorities in STEM to compute science. Several of our members, themselves, come from underrepresented backgrounds as well as having participated in programs with similar goals as our club such as Girls Who Code and Google's Computer Science Summer Institute.

Our club reaches out and collaborates with local tech companies and start-ups, allowing us to expand our own network as professionals as well as create enriching events for our students.

On campus, our club has become involved with Rensselaer's STEP program, which is designed to assist disadvantaged secondary students and those from minority groups under-represented in STEM to acquire the skills, attitudes, and abilities to pursue their studies. We have designed an original curriculum that exposes students to the fundamentals of coding as well as the importance of being technologically and socially adept.

Our instructor team works closely with STEP to provide a wholesome and engaging experience each week. Our curriculum development team is passionate about creating each lesson to fit our class and their experience levels each semester.
